Well well well today is Friday! Yesterday I did something that was rewarding, caring and made me feel so much happiness. I cut 11 inches off of my hair and donated it to the Pantene Beautiful Lengths Campaign on behalf of the Canadian Cancer Society. My Grandma & Sister-in-law were diagnosed with Cancer recently and I did this for them! What does it have to do with my blog?

The thing that ties it in with my blog is that when I was born my parents already had a dog named Shadow, she was a beautiful, black Springer/Cocker Spaniel. I only vaguely remember her as I was maybe 5 or so when she passed at the age of 10. She was diagnosed with Canine hemangiosarcoma which is a tumor of cells that line blood vessels.

See cancer doesn’t just affect humans, it can also affect animals. Did you know that cancer is the leading cause of death in dogs over the age of 10 (from WEBMD). Some of the main cancers that affect dogs are: Bladder Cancer, Brain tumors, Hemangiosarcoma, Lymphoma, Lung Cancer, Mammary Carcinoma, Mast Cell Tumors, Bone Cancer, Skin Cancer & Testicular Cancer just to name a few.
A big big big shoutout to Nicole & Debbie from Chatters Salon – Fort McMurray. I heart you both!!!
It is important that you keep up with doctors visits, blood work and physically scanning your animal’s body and your own body for strange lumps and bumps and reporting them to a DR when you find one. When I brush Rolo which is every few days I usually run my fingers over him to check if there are any bumps or lumps.

What is the point of this post?? Well I am asking those who have very long hair (u only need to donate 8 inches) to consider donating your hair to make a wig for cancer patients. Check your local cancer societyS website for the requirements. Be a trooper and #cutforcancer and be sure to send us a photo! confessionsofarescuemom@gmail.com or post on our facebook wall http://www.facebook.com/rescuemomblog

Mark your calendars because September 5th, 2014 SU2C (stand up to cancer) will be broadcasting a special telecast! Instead of the traditional phone bank staffed by celebrities, the Sept. 5 telecast will feature a “digital lounge” on the set, hosted by Yahoo News Global Anchor Katie Couric. Stars in the digital lounge will reach out to viewers via phone, Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms through an exciting new campaign called “We’re Calling You” that SU2C’s supporters can sign up for, as of today, at werecallingyou.org

My daughter is a two time breast cancer survivor and just hit her 5 year remission marker earlier this month! I wanted to say “thank you” as I try to do to everyone I meet or read about that is trying to heighten awareness and do their part to help eradicate this dreadful disease. Thank you…
Thank you very much for the wonderful comment, I was so proud to do this, its the least I could do to help.
