Today’s pet spotlight interview happens to feature Shiner, Jack & Gus from the pet blog; Pawsitively Pets. Ann is a professional pet blogger and former vet technician. Check out her blog here: http://mypawsitivelypets.com/
*What is your name?
*Where are you from?
*What is your pet(s) (Age, Breed & Name)?
Shiner is an 11-year-old Pit Bull Terrier.
Jack and Gus are dumbo-eared rats about 1.5 years old.
*What are some interesting facts about your pet(s)?
Shiner was rescued from an alley when she was approximately 3 months old. Someone in an apartment complex nearby was keeping her tied up in the alley I suspect because she was not allowed in the apartment, so I “took” (I prefer rescued) her.
She’s an extremely stubborn dog with some selective hearing. Although, she has lost some of her hearing in the past year.
*What is your pet (s) favorite treat?
Meat. If it’s edible she will probably eat it :)
*What is your pet(s) favorite trick?
I don’t know if she would call any tricks her “favorite” but she can sit, shake and lay down well. She does like to catch things in her mouth too, especially if it’s treats or some kind of food.
*Perspective on Adopting a Rescue?
Love it! I support pet adoption and think it’s the best choice when selecting a new pet.
*What’s your favorite thing to do with your pet(s)?
We enjoy cuddling, playing together, going outside to run around the yard, and going for walks.
*Do your pets (s) love to go for car rides?
When Shiner was younger, she used to love riding in the car. She’s picked up a few anxious habits as she has aged and seems to get a little nervous in the car now. But, I do think that she enjoys going for rides every now and then and sticking her snout out the window.
*What’s your favorite animal product?
Well, that’s a tough question! There are so many fabulous pet products available today that it’s hard to pick just one. We get a monthly pet subscription box each month from PetBox and love it. It allows us to try all kinds of different pet products at once.
Shiner’s personal favorites are her Hurley dog bone toy from West Dog Design and her antler chew from Peak Antler Company. These two toys have lasted her over a year, and that is saying a lot as far as durability is concerned with a tough chewer like her.
*Why do you think volunteering at an animal rescue/shelter is important?
Some animals at the shelter may not get the attention they truly need due to lack of staff and volunteers. The more people who volunteer, even just for walking animals, the more interaction these animals can have. There are many pets who need socialization while in the shelter. Many don’t handle the shelter life well, so any little bit helps.
Having to watch and care for my 2 kids all the time makes it difficult for me to volunteer at my local shelter, but it’s something I would like to do as I grow older. And maybe, I can even take them with me when the time comes!
*Do I have permission to copy this to my blog? yes
*Do I have permission to use the photos you provided me with? yes, as well as any photos you’d like from my site or facebook, etc.
