Maya has a few favorite tricks. She really likes to do our “feet” trick. She loves to have her feet on mine and walk. She also likes to do her limp trick and a back stall. These are just some of her favorites.

Mickie’s favorite trick is a back stall. He loves to jump up on my back and do more tricks up there. He also likes to “stick them up” and then play dead. He also enjoys jumping into my arms.

Maya other then coming to work with me loves to go to the beach and do tricks there and she loves to meet people. Another favorite place of her is to go to the elderly living homes to do her therapy visits. We both enjoy this as the elderly peoples eyes light right up when they see Maya.Mickie loves to come to work with me where he gets a lot of love and pets. He also loves to go on bush walks.

IMG_0183*Perspective on Adopting a Rescue?
I think adopting an animal is very rewarding on not only the person but the dog they have. I have Mickie who I think rescued not only myself but Maya also. They are the best of friends and love to do tricks together.
I think for anyone wanting a dog should go to a shelter first as their perfect dog just may be there.

IMG_0242*What’s your favorite thing to do with your pet(s)?
My favorite thing to do with Maya is preform tricks, agility and just have fun with her. She is my best friend and I want to make sure she is happy. I also enjoy doing therapy visits with Maya and the elderly homes we go to. Its so rewarding to me to put smiles on their faces. Some of them who don’t remember me know who Maya is. All we hear down the hall is Maya is here!

With Mickie I love to do tricks and agility with him also. I also enjoy preforming with him. Mickie is a very goofy dog so we love to make people laugh. I also enjoy taking him for walks and hanging out with him as he loves to cuddle with me.

IMG_2401*What is your favorite quote?
My favorite quote would have to be “I didn’t rescue my dog, he/she rescued me”

*Favorite website to get pet information from?
I don’t have a favorite really, I usually look things up on google or go on the website.
IMG_3772*Do your pets (s) love to go for car rides?
Yes both Maya and Mickie love to go for car rides.

*What’s your favorite animal product?
I don’t really have a favorite animal product. I just like anything that is safe for my dogs.

*Why do you think volunteering at an animal rescue/shelter is important?
I think volunteering at an animal shelter is important because the dogs there need love just as much as my own dogs. I think they should get attention and go for a walk as one day their perfect family will come by and take them home. If the dog is at the shelter because it has no training this is the perfect time to help better the dog and help it get ready for a home who might want a trained dog.

m*Anything extra you would like to add?
Maya I got as a puppy and since that day she has helped me over come so much. A lot of people told me she would never do tricks or agility. She is doing both now. Maya is trained using positive reinforcement training and clicker training. We love to show people that even a stubborn breed like hers you can do anything that you want if you put time and patience into it.

When I first got Mickie he was a very scared dog. I got him at 5 years old and he only knew life with his previous owner. Mickie had a lot of challenges living in the city. He was scared of cars and kids. I work with him everyday for five minutes a day, and 6 months later we were invited to do our fist performance. Now from what I was told was Mickie was not the best with kids. I decided to take him anyways as it would be good for him and the kids. He was amazing and loved every minute of it. Mickie helps me teach people that yes older dogs can learn tricks and do things know one ever thought they could do. I love him to pieces and I’m happy to have him with me. Mickie is also trained using love, positive reinforcement and lots of patience.
