Shelter Spotlight – Infinite Woofs Animal Rescue Society (iwars)

Today on our blog we are spotlighting an animal rescue! Infinite Woofs Animal Rescue Society(iwars) is located in the Edmonton, Alberta. They rescue, rehabilitate and re-home unwanted, abused and neglected animals and find them their forever homes. They differ from other animal rescues in that they will try their best to not only help cats and dogs but any animal that has been unwanted, abused or neglected subject to their volunteers, foster homes and donations. Let’s learn all about them!

Two years.

*What types of animals do you have at your Animal Rescue/Shelter?

*What is the adoption process like?
When there is interest in one of our animals, an application can be submitted through our website. It would then be forward to the Foster and he/she will contact the applicant to discuss the needs, personality and answer any questions. If that goes well then a meet and greet would be arranged. This would take place in the best suited environment for the animal. This is usually at the foster home, potential adopter’s home or on neutral grounds like a pet store. Homes are sometimes necessary. Again, depending on the circumstances of that animal and their needs.

A ‘trial sleepover’ is a good idea as it gives the animal an opportunity to meet other pets and family members in the home. This isn’t always the case. Many meet and greets may take place depending on the needs of the animal or if there is multiple applicants. If this process goes well and everyone is happy, discussion to finalize adoption is the last step.

*What does your shelter/rescue hope to achieve in 2015?
We hope to acquire our home in 2015! We are currently fundraising to open up a shelter. A permanent home for our rescue and a temporary sanctuary for our animals. We hope to centralize the services we have to offer.
