Pet Spotlight – Molly & Obi

*What is your name?

Diandra Konojacki

*Where are you from?
Sherwood Park, AB

photo 1*What is your pet(s): (Age, Breed & Name)?
Molly (aka Mollick) She will be two in September, she’s a St.Bernard cross
Obi (aka Obi Wan) He will be three in August, he is a husky cross

*What are some interesting facts about your pet(s)?
Molly’s nickname (Mollick) is because her favorite pastime includes -Licking Mom in the Middle of the night, (preferably resulting in her waking up panicked), Licking Dad in the middle of the night, or anytime really, Licking Obi’s face (I’m submissive), Licking Kayne (our two year old sons face) and lastly, licking her Butt of course.

Obi has two different colored eyes! One is bright blue, while the other is brown. Obi sleeps every night at the head of our bed and literally acts as my own living body pillow! Obi can also talk, his vocabulary includes “hello” and “I love you”. He’s also been known to make a video or two of him eating at the kitchen table…

image*What is your pet (s) favorite treat?
ANY treat! Obi doesnt like garlic or onion though…

*What is your pet(s) favorite trick?
Molly Is what you may call a one trick puppy… Sit and shake a paw! Obi can do High Ten and we taught him to hold a treat on the bridge of his nose!

*Where is your pet(s) favorite place to go?
Easy, the dog park! Or their doggy daycare

*Perspective on Adopting a Rescue?
Adopt don’t Shop! When people asked me why I was adopting another dog, let alone from a rescue, my answer was more like “why wouldn’t we?” It bothers me that people assume animals that are from a rescue have more behavioral or medical problems than a pet from a breeder or pet store, not only are you getting the “full scoop” on a dog when you rescue it, but you’re saving a life AND you have a network of help in case you need it after the adoption goes through.

photo 3*What’s your favorite thing to do with your pet(s)?
Snuggle, kiss their heads…or watch them wrestle.

*What is your favorite quote?
“I’m suspicious of a person who doesn’t like my dog, but i trust my dog when he doesn’t like a person.”

*Favorite website to get pet information from?

Forget website! I call my vet or ask my groomer but usually I ask a member of the rescue we adopted Molly from! The rescue community is full of knowledge.

*Do your pets (s) love to go for car rides?
See attached photo…

photo 2*What’s your favorite animal product?
We LOVE our slow feed dog bowls, they look like a maze in a bowl and it slows the doggies right down.

*Why do you think volunteering at an animal rescue/shelter is important?
Because they are all Volunteer run! There are so many animals in need that rescues can’t keep up, and they cant pay staff because all the extra money goes to the animals!
