Today marks 7 years since my childhood dog Sparky had made her journey to the Rainbow Bridge. Where she was restored back to full health and now plays & runs free with all of the other dogs there. Sparky had played a significant role in my life as a child, she wasn’t just my dog, but my sister, best friend, snuggle buddy and comforter through hard times. You see, I don’t know what it’s like having human siblings, growing up I was an only child and she filled that sibling void I had. Let me tell you, I would pick her over a human sibling any day! I never got sick of her, no fighting, no tattle tales, she didn’t steal my clothes, didn’t pick on me, it was just pure love!
After I lost Sparky I didn’t think it was possible for me to get another dog. I have never experienced such heartbreak in my life than when she passed away and I never wanted to go through that ever again. I got to thinking; dogs are not selfish, and I shouldn’t be either. Sparky wouldn’t want me to live in fear my whole life as everyone in this world has their day where it’s their turn to become and angel. She wanted me to continue on in her legacy and adopt animals, give them an amazing life and never regret anything. Just one month after purchasing our first home, we adopted our dog Rolo.
